Insurance Support and Direct Billing at Aegis Clinical - Serving international students, newcomers, refugee claimants, and Toronto residents

Navigating health insurance in Canada can be confusing, especially if you are new to the country or unfamiliar with how the system works. At Aegis Clinical, we accept a wide range of insurance plans and handle billing directly — so you can focus on your health, not the paperwork.

If you are unsure whether your plan is accepted, call or WhatsApp us at (437) 848-0310 before your visit and we will confirm your coverage.

OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)

OHIP is the provincial health insurance plan for Ontario residents. If you are an Ontario resident with a valid green OHIP card, almost every primary care service at Aegis Clinical is covered at no cost to you.

New to Ontario? OHIP has a three-month waiting period for most newcomers after establishing residency. During that waiting period, you may want to explore private or travel insurance options in the meantime — we can help you navigate that.

Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) — Refugee Claimants and Protected Persons

If you are a refugee claimant, protected person, government-assisted refugee, or privately sponsored refugee, you are covered under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP), a federal plan administered by Medavie Blue Cross. Aegis Clinical is registered with IFHP and accepts it directly, so you don't need to pay out-of-pocket.

What to bring: your Refugee Protection Claimant Document (commonly called the "brown paper") or your IFHP benefit card. If you are unsure whether your coverage is still active, you can verify it using your UCI number, or call us and we will help you check before your appointment.

IFHP covers primary care visits, prescriptions, diagnostics, referrals, and a range of supplemental services. We are familiar with the claims process and will handle all billing on your behalf.

We support communication in English, Chinese, and other languages as available. WhatsApp and WeChat are welcome at (437) 848-0310.

International Student Insurance — Guard.me, Morcare/Alumo, and others

If you are an international student studying in Canada, your university or college likely provides a health insurance plan. We are familiar with the most common student plans in Ontario and accept many of them directly.

Plans we commonly work with include Guard.me, Morcare, and Alumo. If your plan is not listed, contact us — we will verify your coverage and explain what is included before your visit.

Common questions we help students with: what is covered under your student plan, how to submit a claim, whether you need a referral, and how to access prescription coverage.

Travel Insurance

Visiting Toronto and need to see a doctor? We see patients on travel insurance plans. Coverage and reimbursement processes vary by provider, so we recommend calling us ahead of your visit so we can confirm whether we can bill your insurer directly or whether you will need to submit a claim for reimbursement yourself.

Please bring your insurance documents, policy number, and emergency contact number for your insurer to your appointment.

Self-Pay Patients

Don't have insurance or prefer to pay directly? We welcome self-pay patients at Aegis Clinical. Our team will be transparent about costs before your visit so there are no surprises. Call or WhatsApp us at (437) 848-0310 to ask about fees and book your appointment.

If you have questions about your coverage, do not hesitate to call us at (437) 848-0310
