HPV Vaccination

Protecting your long-term health — one visit at a time

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in Canada. Most people who are sexually active will encounter HPV at some point in their lives — often without knowing it, since many infections have no symptoms. Some strains clear on their own, but others can lead to cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar, penile, and throat cancers, as well as genital warts.

The good news: HPV is largely preventable. Vaccination is safe, effective, and available at Aegis Clinical.

The Vaccine We Offer: GARDASIL®9

We administer GARDASIL®9, the most comprehensive HPV vaccine currently available. It protects against nine strains of HPV — including the types responsible for the majority of HPV-related cancers and genital warts.

GARDASIL®9 is approved for use in both males and females aged 9 to 45. It is typically given as a 2- or 3-dose series depending on your age at the time of the first dose:

  • Ages 9–14: 2 doses, given 6–12 months apart

  • Ages 15–45: 3 doses, given over 6 months

Already sexually active? You can still benefit from the vaccine. While it won't treat an existing infection, it will protect you against the strains you haven't been exposed to yet.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?

HPV vaccination is recommended for:

  • Adolescents and young adults — ideally before the onset of sexual activity, but beneficial at any stage

  • Adults up to age 45 who were not previously vaccinated or did not complete their series

  • Anyone looking to reduce their risk of HPV-related cancers and conditions

If you're unsure whether vaccination is right for you, our team can help you assess your history and make a recommendation.

Coverage and Cost

Ontario publicly funded program: In Ontario, students receive the HPV vaccine free of charge through the school-based immunization program in Grade 7. Catch-up doses are available at no cost through the end of Grade 12.

Additional public coverage is available for eligible individuals — including certain men who have sex with men and some trans individuals — under Ontario's High-Risk HPV Immunization Program. Ask us whether you qualify.

For those outside these programs: the vaccine is available at Aegis Clinical on a private-pay basis. Call us at (437) 848-0310 to ask about current pricing before your visit.

Many private insurance plans cover HPV vaccination — we recommend checking your plan in advance. We're happy to provide the documentation you need to submit a claim.

What to Expect at Your Visit

Your appointment will include a brief consultation to review your vaccination history and confirm the appropriate dose schedule. The injection itself takes only a few minutes. You'll be asked to wait briefly afterward to make sure you feel well.

If you're completing a multi-dose series, we'll help you track your next dose timing and send reminders as needed.
